For the last five years, the National Center for Construction Education & Research (NCCER) and its Build Your Future (BYF) initiative have celebrated October as Careers in Construction Month, a time to raise awareness of the job opportunities available in the construction industry to inspire the next generation of trade professionals. To date, 28 states have officially proclaimed October as Careers in Construction Month, and another 7 have filed for proclamations.
As the construction industry continues to suffer from shortages of skilled labor forces, Careers in Construction Month is an excellent time to support local initiatives to motivate and inspire the youth of America. The National Association of Home Builders offers resources and tips for how individuals can celebrate locally here and BYF provides many resources for participants here.
